APPLICATIONS OF HAHN-BANACH PRINCIPLE TO MOMENT AND OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS

Abstract

In the first section of the present paper we solve a Markov-type moment problem involving the spline functions. Thus we continue an idea from [3] (see also [14]). In the second section, we give some geometric characterizations for the minimum points of the distance function in abstract normed and Hilbert spaces. Here we continue some general ideas from [19] and [12].
